Mossy Stonecrop

Mossy Stonecrop is a tiny annual, growing on bare, often compacted, sandy or gravelly ground. It is often found on rutted tracks, paths and other areas where the ground is kept open by disturbance and periodic flooding. It can withstand only minimal competition from other vegetation (J. M. Croft in Preston et al, 2002).

In Norfolk, Mossy Stonecrop has been increasing in range over the last twenty years, particularly in cental and eastern parts of the county. This is reflected in other parts of Great Britain, particularly in Scotland, and if GB scarcity is re-assessed after the next BSBI Atlas it will probably no longer be considered scarce.
