Rough Hawk's-beard

Rough Hawk's-beard is a stout, biennial herb of rough grassland and woodland margins on chalk soils in S.E. England, but elsewhere introduced, often with grass seed, and persisting locally in pastures, in arable fields and on field margins, roadsides, dry banks and waste ground (J. M. Croft in Preston et al, 2002)

In Norfolk, so far only one of the colonies of Rough Hawk's-beard recorded for Beckett et al (1999) has been re-recorded since 2000 however, it has been found in three additional locations. The more recent records seem to be partly associated with the Claylands in the south-east of the county, but there are a few more northerly records prior to 2000. It is possible that it has been under-recorded.
